Charmaine Charity Laride RM

Hello! My name is Charmaine Charity Laride (pronounced La-ree-dey), and I use she/her pronouns. I am thrilled to be joining TMG as a Registered Midwife. I had the privilege of working on Team 2 in my 3rd year of Midwifery school and am honoured they welcomed me back. I completed my training through the University of British Columbia’s Midwifery Program. I live, learn, and work on the traditional, unceded territories of the Musqueam people.

I was born and raised in East Vancouver, and in a meaningful full-circle moment, both of my children were born at the same hospital where I was born and now work—BC Women’s Hospital. My journey into midwifery has been shaped by my lived experiences and a strong belief that everyone deserves care that honors who they are. As the daughter of immigrants, I’ve always felt called to connect healthcare with the diverse communities that raised me. For me, midwifery is more than a job, it’s a calling grounded in love, advocacy, and showing up for others with compassion and respect.

Through my own experiences as a birthing person and by witnessing the journeys of those close to me, I’ve seen how transformative it can be when care is grounded in autonomy, consent, and trust. Birth is not only a physical event but also a profound emotional and personal transition. It is a time when strength and vulnerability coexist, and I feel truly honored to walk alongside people during such an important chapter in their lives.

Becoming a mother has deepened my appreciation for pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period in ways that are hard to fully express. The early days carry a quiet intimacy that is both challenging and beautiful, and they continue to shape my care and passion for supporting growing families.

Outside of midwifery, you’ll often find me immersed in motherhood. Whether I’m chasing after my energetic three-year-old on the soccer field or learning new dance routines with my eight-year-old. I’m also an avid baker, frequent 90s R&B singer, and often found near a body of water on my days off. I look forward to supporting you with care, presence, and respect during this special time in your life.
